‘Crafting Identities’
an exhibition by Hannah Benassi in collaboration with Strathberry
Nov 1st - 20th
Strathberry Showroom, Melville Street
Edinburgh
Often inspired by her travels to Italy, Benassi’s use of a rustic, earthy and pastel palette compliments Strathberry’s Autumn Winter 23’ collection of rich and creamy colours that she has incorporated into her paintings. Working simultaneously across individual surfaces, Benassi presents a collection of original artworks that displays her explorative landscape of contemporary painting where she creates a balance of structural details in soft settings.
Working from Strathberry’s A/W collection, the colour palette used to create my latest body of original paintings is inspired by their latest products that will be launched this November.
Created exclusively for Strathberry, ‘Crafting Identities’ explores the idea of Benassi’s value for interdisciplinary influences. Inspired by the contemporary craft movement of resisting categorisation and encouraging individuality and uncertainties, Benassi’s collection of paintings thread together sculptural forms, fluidity of mono-printing and layering of calico fabric and washes of clay.
